The British Birds in Art website is designed to feature the best of British bird art.
I am a passionate collector of birds in art, with a collection that has been built over twenty years of buying, selling, swopping and part exchanging. My collection includes some of great names from the past, such as John Cyril Harrison, Philip Rickman, Charles Tunnicliffe and George Edward Lodge to mention but a few. They all had a wonderful understanding of both the birds they painted their habitats and the English countryside. I am sure that their inspiration encouraged some of our finest contemporary artists such as Rodger Mcphail, Edwin Penny, Robert Milliken and others to follow in their traditions. Their pictures of birds in art have stimulated a keen interest and following amongst collectors which has led to great success in both top auction houses and galleries.
Consequently the artists on this website are amongst the best known and sought after names in bird art. Anyone who has a love and an appreciation for birds and our unique countryside will no doubt recognise the skill and the atmosphere created by these men. I have used my experience to buy only those pictures that I believe are good examples of the artists' work
